CAT’S CRADLE: LA PETITE MORT

A boundary marker guards the entrance inscribed with a line from Dante’s Inferno in Italian “Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch’entrate” and English “Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.” An imposing pair of cat’s paws punctuates the space: its left one towers over you, raised in a gesture of welcome, maneki neko style; the other is planted firmly on the ground in sphinx pose. Notice the extended claws and gaping jaws which greet you with glowing crystalline teeth like stalagmites and stalactites. The bed sits on the curling tongue, ready to slide into its throat, a feline variation of the spooky-romantic Tunnel of Love from olden days.
 

We designed a custom font specifically for the tombstone to be engraved by CNC.
