Under the direction of HK-based design studio ChowPourianLab, PechaKucha Night Hong Kong is heading back to the grassroots spirit of the PechaKucha mothership in Tokyo.

For those of you not yet familiar with PechaKucha (pe-chak-cha), it is a creative networking event which began in Tokyo in 2003.

Now in 473 cities, the presentation format is standard worldwide: 20 images x 20 seconds with live narration. The time limit keeps it concise and fast-moving, a total of 6min 40sec per presentation.

Expect the unexpected! PechaKucha is a deck of wild cards – eclectic, fun and full of surprises. In addition to established professionals, the floor is also open to emerging talent, entrepreneurs and students in a relaxed atmosphere.

The upcoming event is part of PechaKucha Global Cities Week, with a Hong Kong theme.

COMMUNICATION BLOCKS plays with the interruption of an agreed system of communication. The English alphabet is converted from 26 letters to binary code and then re-coded to five colours. The colour palette shifts to interpret emotion or offer a tone of voice for each message.

A nice, simple, 100% analog accessory for point-and-shoot digital cameras for which we created the identity: iClick – the attachable camera display mirror. Great for taking self-portraits or snapshots ‘around the corner.’
